It was the weekend for families as the Ashour twins and Aubameyang sisters took to the courts to dominate the competition at Emilio Sanchez Academy over the weekend. In the 12&U tournament the Ashour twins Haris and Yousef took first and second place, with Haris gaining revenge on his brother to take the title, and Yousef coming in second place cementing his position at the top of the rankings. In now beautiful conditions, the boys play a gritty, competitive style of tennis, which makes them incredibly hard to beat. Coming in a solid third place, and taking control of the girls 12&U rankings, Victoria Kolchanova had another excellent tournament, losing out only to the Ashour brothers. Taking the extra step to down the Ashour twins will surely be top of her agenda for the next round of tournaments.
In the 14&U Malika Aubameyang displayed a ruthless mindset, crushing through the competition to take her first title of the year, and heading to the top of the rankings. Malika's sister, Confidence played some beautiful tennis through the tournament but didn't get the resukts to show it.No doubt she will be fired up for revenge and to take the honours in the Aubameyang household in the future. Coming in second place, Siddharth Sagar ousted his twin sister, Mira from the top spot in the Sagar family, winning the duel 7/6 having saved match points. The only defeat of the day came to eventual winner Malika, and a solid showing wikll stand him in good stead for starting his career in the federation tournaments in November.
